At least 10 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims sustained injuries on Sunday afternoon when the bus they were travelling in met with an accident in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed.

The pilgrims, all reportedly from Madhya Pradesh, were returning from the Amarnath Yatra and heading toward Vaishno Devi when the incident occurred.

One of the injured pilgrims said the group had begun their journey at 3 AM, adding, “10–11 people were injured. After the accident, we were brought to the hospital, and we are being well cared for.”

Another pilgrim, Bhagirath from Mandsaur, MP, mentioned he had sustained an eye injury and praised the medical arrangements provided at the hospital.

Dr Tariq, an orthopaedic specialist at GMC Anantnag, told ANI that most injuries involved head trauma, but all patients were orthopaedically stable. “One patient with chest trauma will be retained for further observation; the others will likely be discharged within the hour,” he added.

Further details on the incident are awaited.
